AzimPremji’s unlisted FMCG arm Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCLG) is gaining market share against Hindustan Unilever’s top selling soap brands Lifebuoy and Lux. In Andhra Pradesh, Santoor has maintained its lead with a 39% market share, and in Karnataka, it is No. 2 with an 18% share. Ironically, in 1985-86, when Santoor was first test marketed in Bangalore, the brand had failed to capture the imagination of consumers.
